Hide a value. Inspect the prediction.

This activity hides known values in an artificial example. You can compare the prediction with the original and check that every visible field stays unchanged.

How reconstruction works

Choose a known artificial example and hide one to six fields. The conditional variational autoencoder (CVAE) uses observed context and learned statistical relationships to estimate hidden values. We retain the originals for comparison and copy observed fields through unchanged. Variable diagnostics measures a separate, fixed set of masking tasks; trying this activity does not update those aggregate results.
